Dear Reader,
As I write this, Iβm sitting on a two-decades-old IKEA Ektorp sofa. Mr. Dot thought I was crazy when I ordered the white sofa cover β our home includes many pets and three children β but that machine-washable, durable sofa cover remains (relatively) pristine. And so I have something of a soft spot for IKEA, which manages to produce (mostly) quality goods at affordable prices.
But thereβs more to love about Dotβs (corporate) Climate Champ β namely that IKEA now sells induction cooktops for less than $60. (We know the dangers of gas, not only in contributing to indoor air pollution and asthma but also that itβs β¦ gas. Induction, on the other hand, uses far less energy and eliminates the need to burn fossil fuels in your kitchen.) Whatβs more, IKEA has been selling solar panels for a while now and, in Switzerland, the company has added heat pumps, too, something we hope makes its way to North America soon!
Swedishly,
Dot
