Heat pumps

With the earth - not against it

Did you already know?

Around 40 % of Switzerland's total CO2 emissions are caused by heating in private households. Quite a lot, isn't it? By installing a heat pump, you can save 95% of your CO2 emissions and actively contribute to achieving the Swiss climate goals. If you replace your oil heating with a heat pump, you also make yourself independent of suppliers and fluctuating oil prices. On top of that, you also save money because heat pumps are more cost-efficient in the long run compared to other heating systems.

When choosing our partners, we focus on manufacturers who have developed heat pumps with the lowest possible noise emissions - so that not only you, but also your neighbours sleep well. Space for a heat pump is also no problem - usually, when an oil heating system is removed, space is even freed up because the oil tank is no longer used. Contact us and we will find your solution.

Understanding heat pumps

A heat pump works like an inverted refrigerator: it extracts energy from the environment and converts it into heat for heating and hot water. It is powered by electricity but is very efficient because it only draws a quarter of the energy from the electricity and the rest from the environment.

Heat source

The heat pump extracts energy from its environment - the air or the ground.

Heat production

Inside the heat pump, electricity is used to generate heat from this energy.

Heat distribution

The heat gained in this way is transferred to the heating system.

Types of heat pumps

Depending on the environment, two systems are available:

 A. Air-to-water heat pump

The most popular technology! Air-to-water heat pumps use energy from the air to generate heat. They are inexpensive and easy to install. Depending on your living situation, they can be installed outside, inside or in combination - depending on your personal needs.

B. Ground source heat pump

This technology is the most cost-intensive at the beginning, but scores with the lowest follow-up costs during the entire service life. The costs are mainly incurred by drilling into the ground. This borehole must be approved by the municipality - but we take care of the entire administrative part for you.

Advantages and disadvantages of indoor and outdoor installation

Indoor installation

+ Hardly any noise pollution
+ Can be implemented for both systems

- Space requirement
- Air duct through house wall

Outdoor installation

+ Easy to retrofit
+ Minimal penetration of the building envelope
+ Ideal installation if compact and possible directly on the building

- Visual appearance due to outdoor installation
- Low noise emissions
- External heating water pipes
- Only feasible for air-to-water heat pumps

Split units

+ Low space requirements indoors

- Exterior coolant lines (if not directly attached to the house)
- Only feasible for air-to-water heat pumps

Costs for a heat pump

The total costs depend mainly on which heating system has to be removed in order to install a heat pump and which heat pump you choose. Good solutions are available from around CHF 30,000.
