Dear Reader,
Sunday, June 8, is World Oceans Day, and today I bring you (hilarious) evidence that our oceans continue to hold mysteries and wonder that we would be smart to protect. Indeed, this year’s World Oceans Day theme is “Wonder: Sustaining what sustains us.” Oceans do us a solid by producing 50% of the oxygen we breathe, absorbing a quarter of the carbon dioxide we emit, and absorbing 90% of the consequent warming. They are part lung, part sink — a crucial ally against fossil fuel pollution.

Ronan bops to the Backstreet Boys and into the science books as first mammal to recognise a beat. |
And … they are home to delightful sea lions, including this rock and roller who has revealed beat-keeping talents that eclipse those of humans.
For this Feel-Good Friday, Dot gives you a sea lion strutting his stuff to the music of Earth, Wind, and Fire. (Sea lions! They’re just like us — unable to resist getting down to Boogie Wonderland.)
Boogie Woogily,
Dot
