“Companies should no longer worry that they might be unprepared for future climate regulation, such as a carbon tax. They should be scared of missing out on the economic growth that the energy transition (and the IRA) will bring about … For decades, the country’s biggest climate advocates have tried to reduce the harm that the economy causes to the environment. Now they find themselves tasked with the biggest story in the economy itself.”
|
—Robinson Meyer, in The Weekly Planet, The Atlantic. Meyer cites an astounding Credit Suisse report that states, “For big corporations, [the Inflation Reduction Act] definitively changes the narrative from risk mitigation to opportunity
capture.”

Say Farewell to Fast Fashion
As Mollie Doyle writes in “Room for Change: The Closet,” Americans purchased 60
percent more clothing in 2014 than they did in 2000, and kept the garment for half as long. She offers a guide on how to buy less and buy better fashion to lessen the impacts of textile production on the environment. You can also buy used, saving garments from the landfill, and yourself from a life of fast fashion. We like the secondhand Levi’s store for starters.

Many of us Bluedotters live in New England, and we consider Moon Publications’ New England Hiking book a bible (plus, it’s written by Bluedot Digital Projects Director Kelsey Perrett). Want more?
