Dear Reader,
A couple of weeks ago I shared a story about how an experiment indicated that dogs preferred driving in an EV over a conventional gas-powered car. And now there’s another reason dogs and dog owners love electrics: As Bloomberg reports (and Dot can confirm), “Almost all electric vehicles now have some form of climate control that can be programmed to run when the machine is parked and driverless, another feature electric models can offer that internal combustion ones can’t, like a front trunk or fueling at home.” It’s an advantage that is luring dog-loving drivers to the market, with EV manufacturer Lucid calling it the “creature comfort” feature.
Lest passersby worry that your dog has been left in a hot car, “the vehicles will display a message on the navigation screen that climate control is engaged,” Bloomberg tells us. And if you worry the system will fail, leaving your dog panting, “makers promise their systems have safeguards built in… [including settings that] avoid the car shutting down while an animal is inside. If power is running low or the climate control is struggling to overcome extreme temperatures, the machine will ping a driver’s phone.”
Sounds like a great p-update to an already earth-friendly mode of transport.
