Dear Reader,
Not far from me, a neighbor has created a gnome community. The scenes are changed regularly but typically feature tiny gnomes enjoying bonfires, riding on ferris wheels, or otherwise living their best lives. And it never fails to make me happy.
It is in that spirit of unexpected delight that folks are creating backyard tableaus for wildlife — squirrel picnics, chipmunk celebrations, fox fun — and watching them on backyard critter cams. Beyond the hilarity of squirrels breaking bread at a doll-house picnic table, scientists and researchers are accessing valuable information from these critter cams.
