Dear Reader,
We all love a love story, and this one takes us to Michiganβs Upper Peninsula, where two loons (a species not noted for monogamy) were together and successfully brooding loon chicks for 22 years. Until, that is, a younger couple arrived on the scene and the elder lovers scattered β separately.
Since then, the female loon has found herself a younger mate but β alas! β they have not successfully bred. And the male loon, while trying valiantly to fill the hole in his heart with a mate, has little to show for his attempts but a (healing) injured jaw, likely from a scrap with his former paramourβs new lover.Β
Want the whole story? Of course you do (complete with photos of the attractive couple)!Β
Monogamously,
Dot
