Dear Reader,
There has been much hot air expelled blaming wind turbines for the deaths of birds. And yet, buildings β skyscrapers and lowly bungalows β are much more dangerous to avians. (Only cats are more homicidal than buildings.)Β
Brian Anderson often took care of those birds injured in his city of Toronto. A dedicated member of FLAP (Fatal Light Awareness Program) Canada, Brian recently died in a cycling accident but has left a legacy of thousands of rescued injured birds.Β
So today Dot celebrates Brian β and the many like him β who work tirelessly to help these creatures harmed by mankindβs monoliths.Β
Keen to step into Brianβs shoes and help birds in your community? Check out Bluedot contributor Kellie Gormlyβs story on whatβs flapping in Philly β along with tips on what we can all do to assist our avian friends.
Flightily,
Dot
