Dear Reader,
We live in complicated times, which no doubt contributes to the growing resurgence of politicians who promise to restore us to an era that seemed more simple. This populism promises easy solutions to our many challenges, denies uncertainty, and assures us that nothing needs to change. It asks us to ignore facts and trust that all will be fine.
Which is why itβs so appealing β¦ and so dangerous.
When it comes to climate change, we already have the solutions we need, including cheap renewable energy, innovations in agriculture, and β¦ trees! What we too often lack is the political will of those we elect to implement these solutions.Β
Maybe the solution to our current woes is, in fact, clear and simple: Vote for candidates with a clear, honest appraisal of our challenges and an ambitious, equitable plan to address them.Β
Democratically,
Dot
